My 14 year old daughter is starting boxing. I am taking her to the gym tonight and want to surprise her with some new trainers she can train in.

Any advice on what type of trainers would be most suitable would be appreciated.

    Cheers,
    Max

Don't scrimp on boxing boots if possible. Nike Machado or whatever they're called are worth the expense

Yup. Hate seeing boxers wearing normal trainers - Haye did it briefly and no wonder his legs snapped. A light pair of basketball boots or high-ankle cross trainers might even work.

Remember Dave Allen doing it (most likely for attention) in his Lenroy Thomas rematch

Certainly won't be scrimping when the time comes, but it makes no sense to buy her boxing boots on day one when I don't know if she will be there for day two

I totally agree with you as those are too expensive for someone just starting out. Title sells so decent boxing shoes at around $50/60 dollars.
You can also use wrestling shoes as well which Asics are pretty good. And that might be better for you if you find a store that sells those shoes so she can actually try them on.
Mouth piece be careful with the double because it can be hard to breathe at first and she should use it even when she is just starting off so she can get used to it.
    Hand wraps everlast are ok.
If she gets serious make sure you get her a good pair of BAG GLOVES because most of what they sell in stores are average at best.
If you have any questions about equipment the gym where you take her should be able to answer any questions you have regarding equipment.

Nike reacts. Light on feet, spongy soul but not too big and clumpy. Can get them on the cheap if you look hard enough too or even try the likes of Shpok or Vinted. Seems everyone is doing that these days, don’t blame them, especially for the likes of your situation.

If she’s just starting a pair of ASICS or New Balance will be fine. Most of the training will be conditioning as opposed to ring mechanics anyway

Make sure she’s always wearing sports socks, not dress socks or school socks, this will make a difference to the condition of your daughters feet.

Think you should invest in a good pair of gloves and wraps (teach your daughter to wrap through the fingers too)

Make sure she’s stretching when warm at home too, so after a shower, just a quick routine for hands arms and shoulders.

Wish her luck from us and BF24

I certainly will, thanks! Lots of useful feedback on this thread.

She's quite a shy and introverted kid so I think it will be great for her confidence as well as her fitness etc. She's really got into watching boxing the last couple of years.

I met Johnny Fisher at a work event recently and he was good enough to record an encouraging video for her which she loved. I know he gets some stick on here but he's a proper gent.
