"I couldn't have wished for a better fight. I've been calling out opponents like this for the past few years and I finally have a chance. He's a good boxer, but his style suits me perfectly," Hrgovic said, then began to provoke his opponent.

"He has a basic style, he's very slow and you can predict his punches. He has a very easy style to prepare for. He's not a counter guard or some crazy fast boxer. He mentioned sparring where he got beat. Why did he mention it? He should keep quiet about it, and I should talk about it. And he was talking about that sparring match where he was destroyed."

Hrgovic is so convinced of victory that he made a promise.

"Losing this fight would destroy me because I've been looking for a fight like this for years. I finally got my chance and if I lose this fight, I'll retire. I think I'm the best in the world, that I can beat anyone. If I lose to Dubois, obviously I'm not nowhere near that and I will retire if that happens."

doesn't sounds like he's brimming with confidence if he's talking about losing.

If he loses to Daniel Dubois, athletically speaking, I doubt he can achieve more than he has achieved so far.
So retirement is a sensible option.

"I've been waiting years for a slow, basic plodder that's not great defensively and gets beat up in sparring"... Dude you fought De Mori less than 4 months ago

"PS I'm the best in the world"

    He's talking about a "name"

Actually, it sounds more like hubris (if I can't beat "this" man, I need to retire).

Hrgovic proved himself at least a match for Zhang.

Dubois was well beaten by Joe Joyce. Since then Dubois almost got KO'd by Lerena and went life and death with fat ass Miller.

I'd say Hrgovic has this by KO. Although his confidence seems to have been shaked by being knocked down by Zhang I'd say.

 But he hasn´t even tried!
He is 31, mandatory for the IBF belt but in 7 years he has only fought 1 top 10 contender.
If he was actually matched though like say Parker then he could definitely get some meaningful fights. But right now, he hasn´t even been trying.

Can You explain us how Hrgovic "trying"?

What else this dude can do? He was number 1 by IBF and federation give chance to fight with him at last 5 or more names and they said "no".

He was waiting more than year for Hunter who pretend to want take that fight. He took fight with Zhang only because only him said "Yes" to him and IBF. Ok, Tony Yoka said "ok" too but he got contract with Bakole and cant fight with Filip.
Hunter, Bakole, Ortiz, Ruiz, Parker and probably more names that I dont remeber right now.

He cant do anything. He only can take opportunity like this time vs Dubois where Saudis pay good and opponent dont afraid/got injury/whatever reason they have.

    On thread.
Imo only chance Dubois have is catch Filip with Perfect shot early and heart him soo bad that Filip dont recover. But its not very possibile scenario because Croatian show in past very, very good chin vs even bigger puncher than Daniel.
Filip got all atributes to destroy Daniel WHO dont have good chin and who panic when ring situation became hard.

Why he talk about retire? Probably he understand that his carrer dont go way IT should. He lost soo much times that losing with Dubois who with all respect is level behind him will be cathastrophy. Hope this is his extra motivation because better have clear mind vs puncher on this level for sure.

Doesn´t matter, they were ranked guys. Parker is having success while fighting highly ranked guys, despite several setbacks.

It’s definitely a move in the right direction. Nice to see him running the mouth a bit too and not just hiding behind his team.

Hopefully he wins this one and then fights AJ

I seriously doubt the entire division is ducking him. That´s an outlandish preposition.
There are always guys like; Chisora, Parker and Takam, guys who are looking for fights and opportunities.
Hrgovic was more than happy to just sit and wait for his undeserved title shot.

I don´t care what he would do to Parker. My gripe is with his lack of opposition.
Parker has fought: Takam, Ruiz, Hughie(for whatever that´s worth), Joshua, Whyte, Chisora, Joyce, Wilder and Zhang.
And he also has a tons of credible, lower tier guys on his resume like: Dimitrenko, Cojanu and Leapai.

    Wtf has Hrgovic done?

You realize no one wants to fight Hrgybear. Why would anyone want to risk a dangerous opponent for not much money?

He fought a younger Zhang than Parker and beat him first too.
