Foreman never hit Ali with his best shot, right?

    Hi Buddy.
Your reference to Foremans mental state is a good and valid point, not unlike Liston, lots of his opponents were prob beaten before they entered the ring, such was the aura of invincibility surrounding George at that time, he had massacred the 2 fighters that gave Ali trouble, the writing was on the wall, or so we thought, for me only 3 HWs struck fear in to their challengers, Louis/Foreman/ and Liston, and Ali beat two of them, that's why he is No1 in my mind.
I like your posts, you make a lot of sense, keep it up, stay safe chat soon.

Between the trash talking and immunity to Georges bombs i'm sure it contributed substantially........and post fight as well obviously.

I'd like to see how Ali would handle the two blows comeback Foreman finished Cooney with

The story (think i mentioned it yesty) i read about the little boy and his dad actually had a peculiar moment. Seated not far from them was another dad and his little boy. Apparently they were very animated all fight with the dad yelling out a barrage of obscenities at Foreman throughout the fight. Maybe it was him? The writer said they were a bit peculiar as their shoulders sat perched around their ear level. It was almost like they had no neck he said.

There's a common misconception on this forum that Ali didn't really have a chin and it's just that no one ever hit him cleanly enough to find out, because the D was just too good. And that Foreman never really was much of a puncher, and this fight is used as evidence. But all of that is, and I hate to blow your minds too hard, like I'm out here using my teeth but here it is: None of those misconceptions are true. Most misconceptions are false and this one is no exception. This is the rule. Ali's chin was actually okay. And Foreman may notta gotten a chance to really prove it that much in his career but he actually could punch a bit. I have heard that from some guys who was around from back then. But they're long dead now. I think one of his names was Herb. And another one we called Mr. Sams. Mr. Sams owned a candy store, I don't know if anyone from around here has been there or not.

Mr. Sams' son was named Gary, if someone wants to look him up in the phone book and check one of my sources. I know he told Gary too.

Thats amazing. Thanks for sharing that.

Imagine if it was that guy, figured out by the chance, simultaneous input from you and UFSBulls. If it was him, he certainly got that “A-hole” out there, loud and clear. Lol.

This is very possible, because the guy yelling "A-hole" could be heard yelling that on several occasions. Certainly fits with the story you mentioned.

Any "advantage" Ali had from the loose ropes was mitigated by the small ring.
