No WBA Heavyweight Tournament

On the news place about fights, WBA Executive Vice President Gilberto Jesus Mendoza squashed rumors about any WBA tournament to crown a new WBA champ.

"We haven't even discussed that situation yet. Someone just threw that idea out into the media and a few people ran with it. Not true!" Mendoza explained that since Chagaev and WBO champion Sultan Ibragimov were slated to unify October 13, the organization was looking into a match to crown their "regular" champion since the winner of the unification fight would be elevated to "super" championship status. "After the unification fight, we were going to have Valuev and Lyakhovich fight for the "official" (or "regular") title, and have Taras Bidenko and John Ruiz fight for the mandatory challenger status. But, nothing happened because the fight (Chagaev - Ibragimov) fell out."

Without the possibility of a unified "Super" champion and the status of Chagaev still unclear, Mendoza explained that since the mandatory defense is still several months away from having to be contested, Valuev is taking an optional fight with Canadian Jean Francois Bergeron on September 29th, with no "eliminator" label attached.
"The mandatory is still seven months away, so a mandatory elimination fight isn't necessary right now."
The bottom line: "There is nothing about a tournament! Please put that in writing! We won't make a decision until after the Valuev - Bergeron fight. If Bergeron wins...he comes into the picture!"

So there you have it. We'll see what happens. Any thoughts?
Now I wonder about the talk regarding an IBF tourney. Where are the details on that (when, how many rounds, two nights)?
