Breakfast needs to be biggest meal of the day! myth or not?
just wondering what your opinions are on this. I usually go for my long jogs 2 hours after breakfast so im thinking of having a low carb breakfast so i my body can use more fat stores as energy, but the low carb breakfast is only 300 calories (i dnt usually calorie count)

Low carb breakfasts are dumb. That's when your body needs carbs most (pre/post workout as well).
Breakfast doesn't have to be the biggest meal, it just has to happen. You have to get your metabolism going as early as possible. |
Re: Breakfast needs to be biggest meal of the day! myth or not?
Of course this is assuming you didn't binge on carbs late at night. If you time most of your carbs around workouts and early in the day, then by the next day your body will be starving for them. So your workout will absolutely blow.

The meal before you workout is the most importante.

Wait, you run for 2 hours and you don't consider that a workout???? Even if you are jogging at a ridiculously low 20 minute per mile pace, you are still covering 6 miles. In my books, jogging 6 miles is a bit of a workout. |

Dude if you're running two hours I'd say eat 50% or more of your carbs before the run. That's totally arbitrary and pulled out my ass though, I really can't give you a figure. But it needs to be a lot, and then you need to replenish with more carbs afterward.

you run for 2 hours or 2 miles?
You will definitely DEFINITELY catabolise muscle and break it down for energy in that length of time running, ESPECIALLY on low carbs. CARB UP for that sort of thing. why are you running 2 hrs, training for a marathon? if so why not do it later in the day? |
