Getting them last few pounds off

Hi Guys

At the age off 33 I have taken up boxing with an end process to sneak in an amateur or white collar bout.

A keen sportsman as I regularly play cricket, football and 10k road runs.

I'm 6ft and currently 13st 5. but no matter how hard I train I can't shift no weight, I have 3 x 1 hour sessions with my trainer a week, run 2 sessions of 5 miles and play cricket Saturday and Sunday.

My diet is boring and sensible. I eat 5-6 small meals a day.

I have skinny legs and carry my weight around my belly and under my chin, but not overweight to look at.

Have tried slimming tablets in conjunction with my training but this hasn't helped shift any.

Just looking for advice on how to lose them last few pounds, love handles and second chin.

Any advice greatly appreciated.

You're consuming too many calories.

Simple as that.

You could try dropping grains from your diet and switching to predominately lean meats, vegetables and plenty of monounsaturated fat.

How could you give this advice without knowing a thing about his diet?

Sorry guys a typical day would be

Breakfast Scrambled egg and beans on toast

Smoothie

Chicken sandwich wrap with low fat crisps

Main meal usually what she cooks, might be chicken or rice

Low fat yogurt

Usually have a protein shake to help recovery

Weighed myself this morning and I am 13st 7 :(

Think I may have a high water retention

Water retention? No. You're consuming too many calories as I said earlier.

Dont bother with any slimming tablets, those are for hormonal girls who think they look fat whilst on their period.

Try cutting the smoothie and the crisps from your diet.
Having a protein shake as your last meal of the day is not good either. Try having that instead of the smoothie and eating the yogurt later on when you would have had the shake.

Just wondering, why do you say this? You aren't one of those "don't have carbs after 6 o'clock!" people are you?

I think the timing of meals/snacks is over exaggerated in most cases.

The benefits of the shake will be felt at what ever time of day it is consumed if it is every day as part of a routine. Having it earlier in the day gives longer for the calories to be burnt off.

My sessions are usually mid evening so the evening shake I thought would help with my recovery.

If all you are looking for is to simply drop the last few pounds, invest in the South Beach Diet. It is also a very heart healthy diet.

Please know this is not an optimal diet for an athlete though

What would I need to change?

Now Virus may disagree, and I welcome that because perhaps I'm giving the wrong advice, but...

If you remove grains completely from your diet, and feast on lean meats, plenty of monounsaturated fats (IE Avacado's, Olive Oil), get some omega 3's (Hemp, Eggs (certain kinds), Fish, Flaxseeds I believe), and eat all the fruit and vegetables you want for the most part, you'll lose a lot of weight and keep your athletic ability.

It's just a hard diet to stick with. I could be wrong, but if that doesn't work, you might as well go with lipo surgery.

I do not think your diet is sensible enough. You clearly need to consume less calories..
