Huck v Povetkin

Looking ahead to the Huck v Povetkin fight, am curious about which way it will go. Think Huck will see the final bell, if he does is it forgone conclusion he would get the nod? Is he viewed as the home fighter?

Out of the 2 who is:

a: The more popular fighter in Germany with the public
b: Sauerlands favorite.

Cheers :good

Re: Huck v Povetkin

In theory Povetkin beats Huck very easily either by KO or points, he looked very impressive during his last fight and is seriously underrated. I think his problem during the last few years has been his ring rust, with his activity recently that shouldn't be a problem and I think we'll see the best ever version of Povetkin against Huck.

As the thread starter says though I wont be surprised if Povetkin gets robbed here despite both being Saureland fighters, with Huck sort of being "German" there is just too much money to be made of of him being the heavyweight World champion. Povetkin is going to have to at least win clearly by 3 rounds to be sure of a points win imo.

Here's what Valuev had to say on the matter.
Quote:

Former WBA world heavyweight champion Nikolai Valuev has urged his promotional teammate, WBA "regular" Alexander Povetkin (23-1, 16KOs) to go for a knockout against WBO cruiserweight champion Marco Huck (34-1, 25KOs) on February 25th at the Porsche-Arena in Stuttgart, Germany. Valuev, Povetkin and Huck are all promoted by Sauerland Event, but Valuev feels that their mutual promoter is hoping Huck wins because of his popularity in Germany.

"Marco is fast enough [to win], but a dirty fighter. He doesn't hit as hard as Povetkin. Naturally, he is going to try to bother Alex with distance and use [movement]. Huck will will thus earn points from these tactics. This is at least gives him a chance. A different strategy will not bring him success. I do not rule out [Huck] winning the early rounds because he's fast and fresh. Surely he and his team looked at a few rounds from the fight between Povetkin and Chagaev and took notes.

"[Going for a decision] is not very profitable for Alex, because Huck is closer to the promoter. The promoter is likely going to be on the side of Huck, because of the German audience. We look back at the outcome of the fight between [Denis] Lebedev and Huck. A repeat of that is not desired."

Easy KO victory to Povetkin.

Re: Huck v Povetkin

Anyone know who Povetkin's trainer is for this fight since atlas is gone now?

I would be very suprised to see Huck make it the distance. I don't know what Valuev is saying about Huck's movement, like the rest of Huck's skills it's as refined as a caveman's. Just watch the Lebedev fight all he does is back up and run, Huck doesn't have a size advantage and Sasha is quite good at cutting off the ring. Perfect scenario Povetkin brutally knocks him out, Huck drops to CW and has to defend his belt against mandatory Afolabi and gets knocked out again.

With the psychotic Teddy in Povetkin's corner, Huck would have a 25% chance of winning.

But without Teddy messing with Povetkin's head, Huck has ZERO chance in the fight. He'll be stopped arount the 8th to 10th round.

What often happened to fighters with Teddy in their corner:

Povetkin will be compelled to KO him hard and he will

Re: Huck v Povetkin

Everyone writes Huck off, he's in the fight, therefore stands at least a punchers chance..

I still think Pov will win, by UD, but a close UD.

It's Aleksander Zimin. I only know him for training Valuev and that doesn't really say much. If you know him better, info would be appreciated.

Thanks. Not many active out of that bunch. I like Shapikov of course, and I've seen Bakhtin once as he could be handed to Rigondeaux next. Most of the others are 90s boxer that I haven't seen.

Jesus, awesome to see. Arbachakov and Nazarov were both great, great fighters. Alot of Arbachakov's fights are on Youtube and a few of Nazarov's too, there's a thread about Arbachakov in the classic right now. Why the **** didn't they have Zimin training Povetkin from the start, Atlas is nowhere near his level. This makes me very happy.

Britsch no fights for the vacant EU-title against Roberto Santos on the undercard. He vacated his IBF I/C belt rather than fight Benjamin Simon in Turkey (Not suprising from a buisness point of view) Sauerland wont risk getting robbed themselves :yep

Povetkin will stop Huck, I'm sure. Povetkin is so underrated and Huck so overrated it's not even funny
