Larsen KOéd in 4 !
Unbeaten British light heavyweight Luke Blackledge (10-0, 4 KOs) scored a career best-win when he stopped Mads Larsen (51-4, 38 KOs) in round four on Saturday night in Herning, Denmark.
Blackledge has no amateur-experience, and it showed, he is unschooled but very aggressive.
Larsen did well in the opening round controlling Blackledge with his jab, and several good left shots to the body.
But in round two Larsen got cut over his left eye by an accidential headbutt. It seemed to turn the Englishman on and he increased his unschooled attacks, fighting hard, pressing a tired an old-looking Larsen who didn’t succeed to keep the Brit away with his jab. Larsen was´nt moving well, but after three rounds he was still ahead on the cards. In round four Blackledge pressured a flat-footed Larsen to the ropes, and the Dane went down from three hard shots to the head. Larsen looked like he could get up, but decided to stay down. The referee counted him out at 1:20 of the round.

[Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...]Lancashire's unbeaten 21 year-old Luke Blackledge was a surprise, late substitute comeback opponent for Denmark's ageing 'Golden Boy' Mads Larsen in Herning tonight.
Fortunately, nobody gave young Luke the script and he halted Larsen in the fourth round.
Larsen, 39, a former world title challenger at super-middleweight, was having his first fight in 18 months after being stopped in the seventh round of a match for the vacant European title against Ulsterman Brian Magee.
The heavily-tattooed Dane (pictured at the weigh in with Blackledge), stepping up to light-heavyweight, must have expected to get back on track against a relative novice but Blackledge travelled to spoil the party and did so, stopping the home favourite after 1:20 of the fourth session.
At the time of the stoppage, Blackledge was behind on all three cards. A Danish source observed that, 'Blackledge was very dirty and it must have mentally challenged Larsen...(Blackledge) knocked Larsen down but it looked like Larsen looked for an excuse to quit."
The youngster improves to 10-0 whilst Larsen, now 51-4, probably needs to think carefully about his future in the sport.
