Carlos Monzon vs Sumbu Kalambay At MW

How would this one go?

Monzon would beat him I think, probably stop him in the mid-late rounds.

Monzon TKO 10, but i think Kalambay would hold his own while the fight lasts

Kalambay would have a better chance than Nunn that's for sure. But he'd get stopped late I imagine. In the one 15 rounder he had (Barkley) he was awesome but coasted a lot and The Blade's only real success came in the 15th round.

Monzon would start getting his timing down before then. He'd then start landing more frequently in Monzon fashion and either Sumbu uses his expert movement to survive (still losing a decision) or gets beaten down.

Monzon by late round stoppage.

Kalambay would outbox Monzon, more skill, better defence, better footwork, quicker, maybe even a better jab. Better resume too

He absolutely has a better jab.Monzon's jab was always terrible, and if we're crediting him with having a great one,we might as well credit Vitali for having one, too.

I don't have anything against Monzon on a personal level, though.Possibly a scummy person, but he seemed quite a character outside in the ring, and he and his black mates came up with some good tunes:

Kalambay's is one of the best jabs I've seen in boxing. Perhaps the best.

Quite unrelated, I don't think Foster gets enough credit for his jab. Brutal and precise.

:huh Would Monzon loose to Ayub Kalule, would Monzon get blasted out by Michael Nunn in one round?

I stick pick Kalambay though, i think his slickness and jab might edge a close decision.

Interesting matchup that I've never considered before. I don't think Kalambay is getting stopped, though.

Monzon stops Kalambay in the 13th...pretty one sided for the last 5 rounds for that matter. What's this "Kalambay beats Monzon" shit anyway?

Hey, bump this thread in a few months and you'll be calling for a 15th round stoppage. Maybe a bit later it'll be a decision. And then who knows, maybe eventually you'll come around to the Kalambay side.
