Why do people say Michael Moorer has a glass chin?
Michael Moorer was koed twice by two of the alltime heaviest punchers: George Foreman & David Tua. Why do people say he has glass jaw? On the Foreman fight he took a lot of heavy punches from George and was seemingly unfazed by them before that KO blow landed. And ok Holyfield floored him couple of times.

Re: Why do people say Michael Moorer has a glass chin?
Because Max Schmelling's losses' video recordings r lost 2 time .
And then Muhammad Ali got his S saved by Angelo Mirena vs George 4man & Henry Cooper and enjoyed 2 fixes against a 15 yrs older than himself Charley Liston . BTW , both Holyfield & Michael Moorer enjoyed exactly d same kind of a cheat that Clay enjoyed vs Henry Cooper , against Bert Cooper . |
Re: Why do people say Michael Moorer has a glass chin?
Cooper could whack as well but he looked shaky there. Great fight though.

Plus, it's also the way he went out. He was completely out of it after the first punch Tua landed. |
Re: Why do people say Michael Moorer has a glass chin?
I would say that Foreman was still very heavy handed. Moored getting knocked out by him showed that Moorer was less focused/able than even Morrison, who did successfully navigate Big George, who was slow as molasses in his comeback.

Re: Why do people say Michael Moorer has a glass chin?
Chris Byrd went full 12 rounds with Tua. Do you think this is because Byrd is a ironjawed warrior in comparison to Moorer, or might there be something else to the equation?

Re: Why do people say Michael Moorer has a glass chin?
Byrd was younger and more evasive than Moorer .
Also Tua hit Moorer while Moorer was down |

Yes, Byrd was a more sturdy operator than Moorer. |

Byrd, by contrast, went the distance with Wlad (at the peak of his offensive powers), Tua (again, in his 2nd-best career shape), Vitali Klitschko and roided up McCline (who was the first to drop Peter). He did get stopped by Wlad later and Ibeabuchi, but in both case took monster shots and was still on his feet by the end of it. Nope, not even close. |
Re: Why do people say Michael Moorer has a glass chin?
Moorer was knocked out by big punchers but he was also knocked down by just about every heavyweight he faced. He was also knocked down in both fights with Holyield, several times before being stopped in the second fight. He was hurt badly by Frans Botha and almost blew that fight. Moorer had a bad chin as a heavy and a bad style as a heavy because he liked to block and parlay punches at close range rather slip and move on his toes and that wasnt going to work against the bigger better punchers and thats why he was on the canvas a lot as a heavy.
Moorer didnt have a glass chin but he had a pretty bad one. |
Re: Why do people say Michael Moorer has a glass chin?
Probably has something to do with being down 6 times against Holyfield in their two fights, twice against Cooper, once against Everrett Martin, KO'd by Foreman and Tua, etc.

I don't think Moorer's chin was glass, but it wasn't good either. It was average. Having an average chin against huge punchers like Foreman, Tua, and Cooper will inevitably result in knockdowns and knockouts. If his chin was glass, he'd have never survived the Cooper fight and he would've been blown out by Foreman much sooner. We all know Moorer was in complete control of the Foreman fight, but Foreman was still getting a hard whack or two in that would've likely dropped or hurt lesser oponents. |
Re: Why do people say Michael Moorer has a glass chin?
He is certainly chinny.
