Marvin Hagler's training routine ?

Marvin Hagler always looked in great shape http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/a...n1973/841e.jpgbut i havn't heard much about what his training routine consisted of, the only things i really know are that he ran alot in the cold and often backwards but that's about it. Does anybody know anything else about what his training consisted of.

His motto was "be the man", not sissy. He used to run in army shoes, trained in a deserted hotels. He called his regime "prison". I do not think there was something special about his routine. Just insane discipline and commitment. He had that attitude of champ: do not count reps, just continue till you are dead.

Cape Cod in the wind, heavy beach runs and heavy sparring, circuits consisting of 12 3-minute rounds of skipping, bags, balls etc.

There was a guy called Manassa Mauler on here at one time, who was a huge Hagler fan, and he told me Hagler did a lot of plyometrics, and I think it was inspired by some Eastern European

Growing up in Boston during the 80's I remember an article in the Boston Herald describing Hagler's routne while preparing for a bout with I think Antuofermo. The funny thing about it was that Marvin didn't do anything unusual or high tech when preparing for a fight. But what he did do was pound away at the basics. He put himself "In prison" as he liked to say. Long runs along the dunes in Provncetown, sparring, bag work, rope skipping and endless calisthenics. Nothng fancy but the basics x 10. He proved that with hard work and dedication, you can excel without the the gizmos and gadgets alot of people think are a necessity.

What on earth are people talking about with this 'high tech', 'gizmos and gadgets' talk? Do people think there's a modern machine that works out for you?

Very low tech...trained for weeks in secluded areas in the northeast...his preparation focused on ridding himself of all distractions and old school boxing workouts - rope, bag, medicine ball, sparring.

I'm off to my hi tech gym in a minute. We have ropes and balls with air in there - I've also got these gloves with padding in- might use them providing the NASA scientist on site in the nuclear kit bunker approves them.

In fact marvins training was quite thoughtful- yes he grafted his nuts of but one of the earliest videos I've ever found were of padwork were Hagler and his trainer - they used boxing gloves instead of pads.
