Why are hardly any Heavyweights in shape???
Why don't they train hard? At least the Klitschkos and Haye actually resemble athletes. There are too many tubby blobs who don't take the sport seriously.:patsch:verysad:-(

Re: Why are hardly any Heavyweights in shape???
considering the top boxers are historically some of the worlds richest athletes thats a good question
but it takes something special to be great in boxing, i know i dont have that hunger/fire |
Re: Why are hardly any Heavyweights in shape???
It is completely unprofessional, and one of my favorites (Cris Arreola) has been among the worst transgressors. At least he looked in better shape when I saw him over the summer.
Every job has a bit of a grind to it. I'm in real estate and lending and have to take tedious classes and tests to keep my licenses current, but I do because I am a professional. I don't think expecting a fighter to train is too much. |
Re: Why are hardly any Heavyweights in shape???
Plenty of HW boxers are in shape. Its just that in this new era; Large heavyweights (6'4 225 +) are dominating, so smaller heavies try to compensate by gaining more weight.... Its not working however :yep

Re: Why are hardly any Heavyweights in shape???
Just because they're lazy, unfortunately. Very few of the top 10 are able to go a good pace 12 rounds and I don't think any heavyweight around today is capable of going at a fast pace for 12 rounds. Even the guys in good shape, like Haye and Wlad, have stamina issues.
The heavyweight division has very few redeemable aspects right now. The physical condition of the fighters is the lowest it has ever been. There has never been a lazier, more unfit bunch than the current crop. There are some who are built for bodybuilding and some who are out of shape. Not many are built for fighting. |

It's pure lazyness.
"Shall I work hard and make Cruiser or just eat shit and fight at Heavy?" |
Re: Why are hardly any Heavyweights in shape???
I don't care too much for their outside appearance as long as their weight does not slow them down.
Some guys look awful and can still perform well. |

Re: Why are hardly any Heavyweights in shape???
Some guys like eddie chambers will never be ripped up, just don't have the genetics. The other reason is that most of the heavies today at the least the ones from america are sub standard athletes. The top american athletes are in football and basketball, and therefore you have the leftovers in boxing.

Re: Why are hardly any Heavyweights in shape???
Well, its no co-incidence that the top guys are guys who are in great shape.
Wlad, Haye, Vitali, even Adamek are all in great shape |

Boytsov is in shape. Also , Povetkin takes the sport seriously. It's not because he doesn't look like Haye or Wlad that he's a lazy cunt. Some guys are like that. One of mma's legends (Fedor Emelianenko) had that type of physique. and yet he used to train like crazy. |
