Enough with the f***ing obnoxious ads during UFC events.

Okay, a certain amount of sponsorship is fine. "This fight brought to you by...." or "The offical corn chip of the UFC" or whatever.

But you turn on TUF, and there's 3 minutes of them using the contestants to promote some shitty Kevin James movie. :-(

You watch the Vs card, and fucking adverts pop up in the corner of the screen during the fight.

And worst of all, on the fucking LIVE PAY PER VIEW, that I have PAID to watch, they spend three minutes showing me a trailer for some worthless movie I don't give a fuck about. :fire I PAID for this card, I don't expect to pay to watch movie trailers I can look at on YouTube if I gave a shit, which I don't. :bart

I guess the same shit happens in pretty much every sport. They play ads in between balls in the IPL, FFS. :patsch

But it still shits me. Sponsor's logos, mentions during ringwalks, fine. But don't play me bullshit movie trailers, and don't interrupt the fight itself with Goldie reading stupid advertisment shit while Rogan is trying to commentate the action. :|

With all of the fighters dropping out of their scheduled fights they have to make their money somehow.

I can see Dana trying to cram an entire PPV's worth of advertisements into Mitrione's next fight.

That shit's to be expected on free TV. What's really outrageous are the commercials during PPVs. If I pay $60 for a card, there's no way that I should have to shit through an extended trailer for some shitty movie.

The ads that they read at the start of main event fights used to bother me, but I usually mute the commentary these days. I've suffered through at least three lifetimes worth of Mike Goldberg's idiocy and Rogan's feigned excitement.

I guess you're right. :yep

On balance, I would rather sit down in my New Zealand living room on a Sunday afternoon and watch live fights with obnoxious ads for free, rather then not have any MMA on the TV at all, ever. Good point. :good

Well PPVs here cost $US20, so it's better in that regard.

But the principle is the same. If I've paid to watch the card, give me the fights and fight buildup. Don't charge me to watch a trailer for some shit movie that I have no interest in.

Hey Haggis, i'm heading to Auckland in a copy of weeks time, what's the things to do list over there?

I was thinking about hiring a car and doing a driving tour.... any suggestions? :good

They stick those ads to make money and just to keep your brain bored frozen from watching an empty octagon and crowd going to the restroom and back.

Fuck Auckland, is the first suggestion.

I guess it depends where you're from, and how long you're staying. :conf

But I would get out of Auckland city at least for a bit. There's good land all around the place, and I reckon you'll have a better New Zealand experience having beers somewhere out by the water than you will having beers in some bar in a pretty generic city. :good

If you have enough time for only a short driving tour, the Bay of Plenty is nice.

But NZ is small enough that if you have two weeks, you can easily spend a day or two in Auckland and then take a nice leisurely drive on your own improvised schedule. You can go right down the island and end up in Wellington for a couple of days. There will be interesting places along the way to spend a couple of hours or an afternoon or a day looking around, and you'll see just about non-stop postcard scenery.

So that would be my recommendation. If you aren't tied to Auckland, then Wellington is a nice city to finish up in. Wellington is much better than Auckland. :good
