Looking Back: Which ATG fighters had the most disapointing showing during their prime

These once in a blue moon events are always tend to confuse people, but real champs usually get back on track!

Ali was lucky to win against Doug Jones. This was two fights before he beat Liston.

That is not in this MMA poll although I'm sure it could be compared to Aoki's performance vs Melendez

Even though he won the match, Silva versus Maia was the most disappointing for me. Paid for it, and it was a letdown. Granted it turned out to be an off night for the Spider, but during the fight it appeared that Silva didn't want to finish the fight in the last three rounds and was mainly clowning Maia and running. It's not what a champion of Silva's reputation should be doing.

The Leites fight was much worse than the Maia fight.

I didn't see that one. Was it similar to the Maia one?

Yeah, but with less action. Leites kept flopping to his back, and Anderson obviously was never going to follow him there.

My answer is a three way tie. Anderson Silva versus:
Damain Maia
Thales Leites
Patrick Cote

Aoki is not an ATG BeeKeeper, but im sure your well aware of that

Penn, is the answer to the question for me, to be more accurate, GSP vs Penn 2, regardless of weight or any other factor

Looks like at least someone is unhappy that it took GSP 4min to sub Trigg...

Cote wasn't that bad. Silva put a beating on him. Cote just has a hard ass head and the ending sucked.

No I don't, yes he is,

The other factor is that GSP is an ATG WW, you have to give fighters credit for taking uneccerary challenges or nobody else will. For example, I give Aoki a break for his two losses to natural WW Sakurai even though they were pretty dissapointing. I am realistic about my favourite fighter's abilities.

Garbage, these men fought like cowards and were only trying to survive.
