Tszyu v Gatti

There was talk of this fight back when Tszyu was stripped of his WBC title. Fight never happened (Tszyu with show time Gatti with hbo may of been the reason)Gatti won the vacant title. If the fight happened who wins and why?

Tszyu in 6 or less

I just think Gatti's willingness to trade with a guy as accurate and powerful as Kostya would mean a brutal ending to the fight for him.

KT all day, as the Duke said, he would play right into KT's hands... He wouldn't take a backward step

Would of been a great fight while it lasted.
Tszyu too good though and he would of stopped Gatti in the middle stages, rounds 6 or 7.
It's a pity it never came off because we'd still be watching the highlight reel today.

I know KT gets underrated on the main forum but this fight is not even competitive.......... KT fuck'n murders Gatti.

Gatti was a B grader

Agree. I love and respect Gatti but he would have been destroyed. It would have been a short yet brutal beatdown!

Correct exactly how this fight would go.

I cringe at the thought of Gatti potentially being inducted into the IBHOF. He's up for nomination this year. Hopefully the vote goes against him. Involved in great fights, not a great fighter. KT by KO5.

KT by brutal KO. That fight would have ended Gatti's career imo.

Funny to mention KT's profile on the general forums. I read somebody say something to the effect:

"gatti was considered by many as a better fighter than Tszyu at the time and that's why he landed the fight with PBF" :patsch

The poster was then ripped to shreads for the next 5 or 6 pages :rofl

I'm positive this ends with one guy the clear victor.
To think about it in hindsight though, it's a shame it never happened.

a little unfair to say that. Remember its not Hall of great fighters its hall of fame. Gatti was pretty FAMOUS. I think Tszyu will be a first ballet when the time comes.

Thats about right. Gatti had huge power at 130 lbs but relied too much on it. Gatti was kept away from Tszyu for a reason!!

Such "boxing" by Gatti, which involved pretty basic concepts like moving his head, moving away when hurt and circling to rest/recover, jabbing up and down to disrupt an opponent before launching his offence etc etc., isn't anything that would have troubled KT.

KT handled quicker handed, faster footed, harder hitting, physically bigger and more imposing and stronger opponents, as well as better infighters, better boxers, s/paws etc. Only aspect that Gatti has better or equel to any of KT's other opponents is heart- and he had plenty of that!!

But even the older KT versus Hatton would have caught up with Gatti, and hurt him enough to put on a highlight real finish. And if Gatti came in swinging his dick to 'fight' KT early, it could have been over very early.

My 2 cents.

Tszyu was inducted last year on his first ballot. The HOF has nothing to do with someones level of fame, otherwise a New York Middleweight named Tony Danza would be in there.

Gatti was involved in great fights, but he was far from a great fighter. Still, it's not like the IBHOF haven't slipped up before... Barry McGuigan, Ingo Johannson etc.
