Trained yesterday..

For the first time in years.

I'm getting back into boxing and will be going back to my boxing gym on Monday, I trained at home and have woken up feeling like I've been hit by a train. Arms, shoulders, upper body aching, not injured just aching.

Can I train again today or is it better to wait until they're not aching again? Don't want to risk an injury.

Thanks. :good

Mate,I haven't been able to train for more than five or six weeks at a time because of health problems,so I always seem to be starting over, but I would go for no more than three times a week, maybe even twice at the minute.
If I do an upper body weights workout one day,I can go on the bag next day and after a round,I can't even throw a proper jab.Trial and error mate,do what feels right and feel your way back in.
And try and get a good stretch afterwards. It won't stop the pain but it will reduce it.
Good luck,and remember The Cobra.:good

Nice one.

I'll just take it slowly until it becomes comfortable again, just do a bit of shadowboxing and skipping today.

All hail the cobra.

Yeah take it easy and give it a few days off.

Listen to your body. Its hurting for a reason.

Re: Trained yesterday..

go do some alternative training like skipping, running and just do maybe 30 mins - 60mins of shadow boxing to improve your technique

I'd go for a swim or do a bit of shadow/light jogging. Better to do a little than nothing at all i'd say. :good

Re: Trained yesterday..

Hadn't been in a boxing gym myself for about 1.5 years due to life getting in the way, went again a few weeks ago and have been training twice a week since then (plus of course cycling, since I live in the Netherlands). My condition is already improving rapidly, at first I felt like puking. I'm picking up the pace in a few weeks time, when work slows down.
