British Trainers, how do they compare
 

To American Trainers?

To me, they often seem to be lacking that little extra that many American Trainers have.

Guys like Naseem Hamed for example, had he been with Steward from an early age, would have been more successful imo.

British trainers seem to gloss over their fighters flaws, and as a result when they step up they often get exposed, because the Americans take one look at them, identify the flaws and exploit the hell out of it.

You thinking of moving over to the wild card gym?...good move IMO...stay over there as long as possible!...don't feel that you have to come back.

I like how you made your point and backed it up with logical, well written, in depth reasoning complete with (one) example. Particularly liked that you sucessfully avoided any generalisations or lazy idioms.

So you think guys like the Ingles, Billy Nelson, don Charles etc are up there with the Richardsons, roaches and stewards (rip)

I agree. Britain has some great fighters but our trainers are generally pretty poor. Most are really just cheerleaders and towel wavers. The exceptions in my opinion are the outstanding Brendan Ingle and Rob McCraken.

I can see where your coming from Dai. Personally i tend to agree to a point i think there exposed to a higher level of work constantly. The quality of sparring is better and easier for them over there to develop fighters as well as fact some of these guys have been lucky enough to share numerous conversations or even time in the gym with such legendary trainers.

Also the fact they have a large talent pool including foreign fighters does help them look good as well :lol:. But our guys have there own way and there good and mostly young trainers themselves. There developing on the job with there fighters.

I do think Robert mckracken is very good, I actually think Booth is pretty good too, he gets the most out of his fighters and is very innovative

Robert McCracken is a brilliant trainer, probably the best in the country for me

I think Gary Lockett has the potential to be a great trainer.

Its a bit unfortunate that his premier fighter doesn't actually take a blind bit of notice of him when the bell rings.

Nas is a bad example. He tidied up a bit after joining Steward but his best work came under Ingle.

Why have you made these names plural? is there more than one good trainer with the name Richardson? or Steward? or Roach?
