My 50 Greatest boxers of all time

Top 50 was difficult, Top 100 will be way too mentally taxing at the moment.

NOTE UPDATE: I DO NOT AGREE WITH THIS RANKING ANYMORE...IT'S RADICALLY DIFFERENT.

Four major points I'd pick out on.

Tunney above Greb - I definitley feel this could be argued although I may not personally do it. It's certainly close though

Whitaker not in the top 50 - I think he's top 30 shoe in, arguably top 20

Holyfield as low as he is - definitely a too 25 p4p and deserves to be above Holmes for sure

Holmes as high as he is - someone who's best win was a split decision while near his prime or in his prime against a shot Norton or a green Witherspoon. Far too untested to be put that high, especially when he never looked liked win against his best opposition

Disclaimer: I don't claim to be an expert whatsoever, and as I learn more about boxing I'd most likely change this in the future. ALSO, this didn't take me that long so I might realise certain things and want to change up. Here goes:

Mayweather (I have Mayweather beating Hearns and Benitez. Duran vs Mayweather and Leonard vs Mayweather will be a very tough one to call - although I have him lower than some of the 90's-2000's stars of all weight divisions, I have him as the best fighter of the generation. I am sure he'd beat Pacquiao, Barrera, Morales, Tszyu, Hamed, Ayala, Whitaker you name them. I'm not completely sure if he can beat Napoles although I'm more inclined to say he can, it would be a dream matchup). Obviously because of natural progression in the sport, I have Mayweather beating someone like Benny Leonard too, but obviously Benny is 'greater' p4p. Another reason why I say this because sparring sessions and the way they fought back then seemed a little inferior. I'm probably stating the obvious here :rasta Having said that, I have prime Robinson beating Mayweather).

Don't know enough about Kid Galivan, Eder Jofre or Fighting Harada.

Only three fighters since 1928 can boast to having 40+ wins over top ten contenders/champions (at the time of the fights) and Ezzard Charles is one of them. The exact number may actually be 37 if KOKid didn't miss any, but I don't think it matters too much at that point. (Robinson and Moore are the other two). Greb undoubtedly would've been there too if the monthly system existed.

i'm not a big fan of lists but yours is reasonable. i think it's silly to argue about who the 43rd greatest boxer of all-time is but if all of us posted a list, almost everyone would have a problem with it. de la hoya i feel overall is very underrated but i think you have him too high here. roy jones is my favorite fighter ever but i understand he's very hard to rate on these all-time lb for lb lists. if you look at mostly resume, you could put him outside the top 50. if you actually watch him fight at his best, he could easily be top 10.

edit, i just saw charles wasn't on the list. big problem. he's easily a top 10 fighter all-time.

Bob Fitzsimmons is a top 10 P4P guy, top 15 at worst.

Yeah, that too. I don't like him lower than #6, actually.

Charles is a top 5 P4P guy. The sooner everyone starts accepting that, the better it will be for everyone.

What the heck do you know about jack Dempsey, that Sam Langford, Gene Tunney, Mickey Walker, Jack Sharkey, Max Schmeling, Ray Arcel, Lou Stillman, Damon Runyon, and the 200 boxing writers who voted him the best heavyweight in the 1950 poll didn't know ? Why would you distort history by
