I dont think being ranked #1 with the WBO guarantees you a mandatory shot :conf

They are by far the worst organisation for declaring/enforcing mandos

I think the last time a wbo ww champion made a mandatory defense might have been when Margarito fought Paul Williams back in 2007?:huh

^This is correct.

Pac went two and a half years without fighting a mandatory.

Calzaghe did the same thing. His last defense was against Veit back in mid 05 and he didn't vacate the belt until he fought Jones around late 08.
I wonder how the wbo justifies this to all the guys on their books waiting for title shots

Damn! Must suck if you are the next in line only to find out you won't be fighting the champ. How can they even continue to fight for the WBO?

No he didn't. Clottey was ranked #1 by the WBO when Pac fought him.

WBO is the weakest boxing organization. They do whatever they want as long they can get some sancationing fees.

It was a shit ranking manufactured by the WBO. In the 18 months before that fight Clottey won the IBF title, which made the WBO drop him from their rankings, and then he lost his next fight to Cotto.

Thats actually good, because with stupid mandatories out of the way we manage to see better fights that why the wbo are getting more recognicion and getting better champions to fight for that belt, the wba regular is now for prospect the ibf is for one title defense only and the wbc is exclusive to Mexicans. WBO are getting the better champs because of that. Fans sometimes are ignorant they are angry because of mismatches because of the mandatory status and sometimes we are getting weak belt holders because a champ decide to vacate to fight a mandatory bum, and now Here people is dumping the wbo because He do not enforce regularly the mandatory spot. Do not understand

What about the guys who are due title shots? How are they supposed to get a shot if the champion only makes a defense every 2+ years.
