Off to gym for first time.

Going to a boxing gym for the first time today, although my muscles feel sooore. Any tips on what I can do about it? Rested all day yesterday and last worked out on saturday!

If you're really sore it's better to go for a light jog or swim rather than do nothing at all. Contrasting cold and hot showers are good as well. Since you're going to boxing today there's not much you can do about it now, you'll probably feel fine anyway after you warm up and get a bit of adrenaline.

In addition to what dealt_with said, you could try some foam rolling or get a massage right after your workout. That thing he said about active recovery works great, but make sure to keep it at low intensities.

Oh, I also love alternating cold showers / sauna while I doing static stretches before leaving the gym.

Get ready to be sore a whole lot more. It will probably take a month or so to get used to the increased work capacity and demands of boxing.

Cheers

You'll probably be sore for the first few weeks, it took me a few weeks until i wasn't sore after every session. Make sure you wrap your hands properly though, as you could do yourself damage hitting bags because your hands and wrists won't be used to the stress and your technique won't be great.

If you're really sore, like stated before a lighter workout would be more suited for that day; muscles get stronger when you rest

It's an actual recovery technique, not a workout. The movement helps flush out metabolites and improves blood flow to aide recovery.
