Numbers look pretty good.

Any idea what Channel 5's usual viewing figures are for the timeslots the boxing was on?

surprised at the Fury/Rogan figures compared to the others but pretty good for channel 5 I'd imagine.

Below a million typically. You have to remember that Match of the Day takes up quite a large share on a Saturday night whose audience is a similar demographic. Decent numbers especially for DeGale- Hennessey will be happy.

Very impressive numbers

Re: Here are Channel 5 boxing viewing figures

Usual Saturday night programme for them is NCIS which will do somewhere between 1-2m dependent on what else is on. So most of these are pretty average, probably with the exception of the Chisora fight.

5 won't be all about the headline number though in deciding whether to keep showing boxing, it's also about who's watching... C5's usual audience is mainly women, who in general watch more TV than men. A programme that rates well for men, like boxing, means they can potentially sell the same amount of advertising space for a higher premium and also attract some new advertisers they otherwise might not get. If they can get young men watching, even better as it's a difficult audience for an advertiser to reach so the premium for the same spot goes up even further.

On how it compares to ITV - If you're talking about ITV1 in the heyday, it'll be massively down. Off the top of my head decent fights there would probably have done 3-4 times the viewing figures 5 are getting.

Look like some pretty solid numbers there. I've definitely seen an interview with Tyson Fury where he says Channel 5 executives told Mick Hennessy that they'd be pleased with 1.00m viewers for his fights. They seem to be getting just over that number at the moment (even though Fury's been fighting mostly no marks).

And if Fury does get some big fights next year against the likes of the Klitschkos, Povetkin or Price then those numbers will surely go up. Olympic gold medallist James DeGale too, he's a recognisable name to the public.

If things stay the way they are at least then I don't think there's any danger of them pulling plug anytime soon. I think boxing on Channel 5 is here stay for the considerable future which is great for fans.

:happy

It clashed with lots of other channels bare in mind. I'm a celeb final/motd and a couple of other crash but popular programmes.

REally solid numbers from ch5 but not just about the total, I believe they signed up the boxing(&MMA/UFC) to increase the age demo of 18-35 year olds. Nice to have boxing on terrestrial TV.

Its always been my understanding that advertisers don't like to be associated with Boxing.

Seeming as how Cunty boxing promoters can be with Fans -who also happen to be their customers....imagine what they are like to deal with a business people. Thats probably more the reason why they don't get any airtime.

Decent numbers - I knew they'd settle down a bit after the Chisora fight, strange thinking that Kid Galahad has so much exposure!
