Amateur boxing age limit U.K
I'm a late starter to boxing (started in July) i'm now 31, 32 in April. I live and breathe the sport thoiugh, stopped drinking, train right, and eat right too. I'm hoping to get a couple of amateur bouts under my belt. The question is i know the age limit is 34, but does that mean I can compete until my 35th birthday?
Thanks. |

Yeah, you will be able to box as a senior against lads between the ages of 17 and 33 till then. Your coach will probably know all this though mate. If not details are in the ABAE rule book - you can download this online at the ABAE website. |

Ta! :good Future thinking, is masters boxing easy enough to get into. After a quick search online there doesnt seem to be too much info on it. Anyone familiar with the scene? Didnt fancy unlicensed seen a few events didnt think it was for me. |

You train at a normal ABA club and box on normal club shows with juniors and seniors. The only differences are that you have to have a medical every year and your coach has to match you with lads between 34 and 40. There's no special way of getting into it - it's just normal am boxing. There aren't many masters available to box at present so you may have to travel to get bouts and I wouldn't expect to be boxing too often. Hope this helps mate. |

Good luck mate. I myself started late as well and managed to get a few fights in before reaching the age limit.

Re: Amateur boxing age limit U.K
No not at all. Entered a boxing gym at age 28 for the first time in my life. I was a fat clumsy slob who never intended to set foot in a boxing ring. I gradually improved thanks to my obsessive nature and at some point my trainer asked me if I wanted to fight. He was shocked when I told him my age (30 or so by then) but it happened anyway. Wouldn't want to miss the experience for anything in the world, I suffered the pain of discipline but won't suffer the pain of regret.
