Gunnar Nelson vs. Jorge Santiago (FUEL TV 7)

Quote:

After ****** Edwards dropped out with an injury, Gunnar Nelson will square off against Jorge Santiago in a welterweight fight at UFC on FUEL TV 7, UFC officials announced Wednesday.

Nelson submitted DaMarques Johnson via rear-naked choke in his UFC debut on Sept. 29, 2012. Santiago will make his latest return to the UFC after an 0-2 stint, losing to Brian Stann at UFC 130 and Demian Maia at UFC 136. He has won his past two fights for Titan FC.

UFC on FUEL TV 7 is headlined by a interim bantamweight title fight between Renan Barao and Michael McDonald. The event will be held Feb. 16 at Wembley Arena in London.

A much more interesting and difficult fight for Gunnar. Jorge is going to be very difficult for him to submit, and while Jorge may have the worst chin in the sport, he probably has the superior standup skills, and Gunnar isn't exactly Manhoef with his power.

I think Gunnar takes a hard fought UD in what will mostly be a defensive ground battle. A stern test for the young prospect.

Gunnar does have 4 TKO stoppages well 3 with one sub win by punches so it does sound like he could rock Santiago and stop him

He's really quite talented. Just has an awful chin.

After his second fight with Misaki, he can do whatever he wants, though. That shit was classic.

I know he's good. Him climbing back from his release from the UFC to a top-10 middleweight was nothing short of inspirational. Capitalizing with BOTH FOTC classics with Misaki.

But he's just going to go 0-2 (again) and be released.
