Pure punching power....do many top mma and k1 guys hit harder then boxers
I am sure that i will be attacked here by everyone here but hear me out....
1.ofcourse boxers are skilled in boxing and in general when it come punching, footwork and defense, they are specialists at this 2. i box but also have done other stuff so i have a bit of experience in what i am talking about 3. k1 fighters, are usually a mixture of muay thai and boxing, with a bit of karate which has become modern european kickboxing 4. preety much every mma fighter trains boxing, thai, bjj and wrestling. all that said now again there will be more ko's in mma because of the small gloves and more weapons and guys dont have as good punching defense and in k1, the defense issue comes in and fighters are pushed to be exciting etc.... this is all clear, and boxers being specialists in punching should be the greatest punchers, which in skill ofcourse but are they in punching power???? in mma some of these guys are sick punchers and you see many one punch ko's-quick hard kos and you see them in k1 as well with the big gloves granted i already mentioned the defense issue but lets clear some things up in many boxing matches, you see stats where one fighter landed 278 power punches and the other 199, and both have no visible damage, there is something odd here now from training i can see why this can be the case how many times have coaches say these things - dont concreate on hitting hard speed is power it just matters where you hit the guy not how hard you swing while having trained with some mma guys there is more of an attuide of smashing the pads getting all you power into a shot so is it a shock that some of them may end being the harder puncher compared to someone who was taught speed and accuracy are the important thing interesting enough some the mma fighters like micheal bisping who have more text book boxing style are rarely the guys causing the big ko's..... |

Just for me, punching power is inborn and it doesn't matter what sport you're in, if you can take a guy out with one punch you will.
However, in MMA's case, the smaller gloves really helped in increasing the impact of the punches, plus the ruling of stopping a fight even without giving a downed fighter a chance to get up with a mandatory count, gives the impression that MMA fighters are bigger punchers than they are. |

Punching power is always natural... There is nothing those K1 guys do that makes them hit any harder than the average boxer... Tim Bradley, Manny Pacquiao...

Compared to Boxing, no MMA or K1 fighter can even dare to compare his punching power to the one of a real boxer ..
For example Badr Hari, who wanted to change into boxing .. he was the best K1 fighter out there, but when he trained sparring, his unknown sparringpartner must kick his ass because after his training he decided to stay in K1. I really want to know who his sparringpartner in boxing was .. |

A couple days ago I seen a mma fight on TV and the punch stat total was about 30 punches FOR THE WHOLE FIGHT. Its clear to me that those guys are getting KO in mma because
A.They dont see the punches coming due to lack of Ring IQ. B.They dont have High punch Resistance , compared to a boxer who takes hundreds of punches through-out a professional bout. |

The amount of MMA fighter's i've seen get hurt badly by a jab is kind of staggering, seems everytime i watch MMA one of these guys is getting stopped because of some jab as they rush in blindly, then follows the beatdown while they are downed

Of course they do, yes technique helps improve the output of power but it's something that just comes.

There are alot of brutal knock outs in MMA because their defense sucks and also they throw nothing but haymakers the whole night.
