Why Pride will always be greater > than UFC
1. They give you a yellow, deducting 10 % of your pay if you try the boring lay and pray.
2. It's a ring so it's possible for strikers to cut people off in the ring. 3. You can't exploit the cage to push a grounded opponent against to lay and pray someone. 4. No worthless elbows which all they do is cut someone. 5. Knees to the head of a downed opponent . 6. Soccer stomps. 7.Open weight tournament where Wanderlei and Henderson are fighting Heavyweights. 8. Best of all, Fighthing multiple times in one night!!! 9. Watch the highlights of fedor, cropcop, and wanderlei 10. Not full of only white tattoo'd rednecks from the burbs. 11. Much better competition, just look at Anderson Silva's pride/pre ufc record. 12. Way better commentary. Thanks bas and the legend.. [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...] 13. Always stacked, epic PPV's 14. Tim Silyvia was actually the UFC Heavyweight Champion = [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...] Feel free to add. |

Re: Why Pride will always be greater > than UFC
Why Pride was overrated and at times extremely sucky.
Fixed fights Organized crime Freakshow fights Filler fights with champions fighting bums Unreasonable demands of fighters to cut weight Deducting 10% of fighters pay for bullshit reasons The ring Most of your criticisms are hilariously stupid. UFC now is far superior than Pride ever was. |

Would it really that hard for UFC to pick up the production values that you fanboys like so much about PRIDE ?
One pet peeve of mine is the grey mat. If you are reading this Dana start using different coloured mats, the grey is drab.. |

Wanderlei too didn't make many title defences. This was farcical. They protected Wanderlei from fighting fighters they thought might have a chance to beat him, lil Nog, Overeem etc. They were too high risk, low reward. Pride didn't care who the best fighter truly was alot of the time. Oh yeah, did I forget to mention they fixed fights? |

It's sort of funny. Scurla hates the UFC and describes it as like the WWE, yet Pride had far closer proximity to professional wrestling than the UFC ever has, look at it's production values, it's stages, it's walkouts, the fact it had crossover fighters/pro wrestlers compete,(yeah, yeah Brock) the fact it was owned by a professional wrestling company in the early days, the fact they fixed fights just like pro wrestling. Oh, to the OP, if you think it's "good" that small fighters fought giant heavyweights dozens of pounds heavy than them; then you're a moron. |

Re: Why Pride will always be greater > than UFC
MMA is better now than it was during Pride, as in there are a lot more elite level fighters now. I couldn't care less about production values or the people in the crowds. I'm not a huge fan of Soccer kicks nor do I particularly like elbows on the ground. I think I prefer the cage to the ring just for practical grappling reasons. I do think however that if you lined up all the Current UFC champions and they fought all the top Pride guys in their prime the UFC guys would come out on top. Nothing to do with UFC V Pride just the sport moving along. The one thing that has almost totally disappeared is the freak show fights and that was inevitable as MMA moves into new markets such as network TV and the like.

Re: Why Pride will always be greater > than UFC
A cage is better than a ring for MMA fights IMO.
With that said, I think PRIDE was actually bigger as a show in Japan than UFC is in USA. Though in the whole world I wouldn´t be sure of who is bigger, more popular...... MMA in Brazil is bigger than ever was, but I wouldn´t be sure about the rest..... |
Re: Why Pride will always be greater > than UFC
