try out or not on paper ****ell in 1954 looked at least as proven as valdes. in 1954 valdes beat fridge trial horses james parker, archie mcbride (who had previously beaten him) harry walls and novis tommy jackson where as ****ell beat kid mathews x3 and roland lastarza.

even if he had one win over recent challenger Charles was there much mileage in selling a contender who had already lost to Harold johnson, archie moore, billy gillium and bob baker just the previous year? ****ell was about the only rated contender outside of archie moore who had not recently lost to a decent heavyweight. Moore was the outstanding contender at heavyweight.
