He was not bad but he was not and should not have been champion for as long as he did. It just shows you how bad the heavyweights were. David Tua knocked out Ruiz quickly and he was never champ. So it does not all make sense. And there was a different Hearns which I think people talk about in the higher weights and who I think about. When he fought Andries his balance was ok and he was fighting well. Later he got more sloppy and his legs were gone more and he floundered, but if you put this fight in 1987 Tommy could have won it. Later probably not, Tommy would get sloppy and maybe get caught. I am talking about a younger more balanced Hearns with a jab and solid right who could control a guy like Ruiz. Hearns sparred Tony Tucker years before. He could do it.
