Vito was tough but he was a huge over-achiever in my estimation.

He won every fight that he could have, including fights against some memorable contenders, but he wasn't really able to capture many wins against top class middleweights in their prime form. The likes of Griffith, Briscoe and Moyer had obviously seen better days.
