Bute likes to plant his feet in a fairly wide stance & his primary means of defence is upperbody/head movement. He's good at slipping single shots but doesnt have the reflexes to avoid combinations & sustained attacks.
Froch was able to land so often because after he stepped in with his left foot Bute didnt readjust & ended up squared up. By not using much lateral movement Bute spent a lot of the fight going straight backwards & onto the ropes.
