Default Ive got the hip/foot pivot down, what should the rest of my lower body be doing?

So I get how to rotate my feet/ hips/ and snap my punches.

What else must my legs and feet be doing?

Like do you dip / bend the rear knee when you cross?

Do you stay on the ball of one foot and flat footed on the other foot?

What else must my legs/feet etc be doing?
