Larry said he was thrown off by Spink's akward style he said he threw uppercuts when he was supposed to throw jabs and hooks where uppercuts were supposed to be. Charles was a very by the book boxer and didn't have a akward style so he wouldn't of been able to throw Holmes off, And Charles was only 6' foot, so it would have made that even more difficult for him seeing as Spinks was 6'2, Charles would look very small next to Holmes and that would affect the fight, he can't box him as effectively with that height difference, even though he could box him he would not win
