On the other hand Mexican champs and their management aren't above searching for opponents on the fringes of the rankings..especially if they come at a good that case Will would have to be willing to get a pretty measly purse but he is getting near that stage of his career where he would have to take these opportunities when they come up.

For reference...Salgado took on a guy ranked around the 14-15 mark in his last his first defense after bagging the title he took on a similarly ranked opponent.
Spot on WhataRock. Exactly what i was hinting at!!

Diego Magdaleno who is with Top Rank is believed to have a co-feature slot on a HBO BAD date in late February, so Top Rank will want Diaz, plus Diego Magdaleno is number 2 in the WBC rankings at 130 due to him holding the NABF.

Otherwise the Golden Boy/Canelo promoted WBC Silver Champ at 130 Sergio Thompson could get the shot also...they would be the 2 likely candidates for Diaz looking to ca$h out.
