I've been seeing a lot of stepping in with an elbow to disrupt an opponent's attack more and more in movies and television. It turns out that there is a trendy martial art called the Keysi Fighting Method, that has become all the rage since Batman Begins.
I'm not here to discuss the Keysi Method, and whether or not it is effective. I want to know how effective the short elbow strike is. Watch this video around 56 seconds in:

I like how he steps inside the right hook and lands the short elbow. I don't like how he follows up with all the other strikes afterward. I like the initial elbow and trapping the arm. Instead of all the follow up crap, I think he should just do something like this when the arm is trapped:
