Ruby Goldstein spoke of the tragedy in a later interview - believe it was in Ring Magazine. While he was clearly upset over what happened, he said that Paret was known to absorb terrible beatings and then come roaring back. He felt that he acted appropriately and that if he had it to do over, he wouldn't have done anything different. Ruby Goldstein always seemed like a genuine, caring person and this must have weighed heavily on him, whether his action was correct or not. I don't believe he did much refereeing afterwards.
