Yes Marquez did win becuase he was superior, however Pac was still prone to cramps as Ariza said in an interview before the fight that Pac had been cramping all over in preparation and he'd had to bring in a specialist to treat the crampin. Also he noted that the leg cramps Pac had complained of had only occured since Pac had stopped doing his complete conditioning program. On a final note Pac was suffering from cramps last night as Larry Merchant noted they were massaging his calves between rounds.

Since the run where Pac did Arizas complete program was from David Diaz to Antonio Margarito and included De La Hoya, Cotto, Hatton and Clottey, some of his most impressive performances, I don't think it can be said that the training made him slower, stiffer and bulkier. In fact since cessation of the complete program his performances seem to have suffered. Based on that it'd seem that Roach made a fairly dumb call.
