In theory, yes - that is an effective way to lose fat.
In reality, it rarely works out that way.
Like JDSM suggests, the best time is when you are most capable.
Which means having both the physical energy, as well as the mental. Training should be fun - if you're lacking energy - you won't put in the effort, you'll be miserable, and your results will suffer.
