Whitaker fought like that as an amateur long before George came into the picture.

Whitaker had a unique style all his own, there might have been a few Benton moves mixed in there but it was mostly Whitaker.

Sure there were similarities and George might have refined somethings in Pernell, but Pernell had things he could teach George if he could.
