I tend to agree with your trainer's stategy; it makes good sense. Palmer NEVER micro managed his boxers...we all had our own styles and favourite moves and punches and styles; Ambrose introduced the catching and ducking exercises which became an embedded practise by all of his boxers; he helped with some classic counter moves, left jab attacking and ring craft movement to nuetralise attack. The fboxer MUST establish himself, on his pat malone sometimes, really, by this I mean, he must study, practise, practise, practise, and pick himself up continually in the perfection of boxing moves, evaluate the worth of moves and their impact/danger, and when perfected, put them in the scabbard to wait for the right time to bring out that particular arrow...if you get what I mean..
