yup, I listened to a Collins interview recently where he said he actually went into the ring to challenge him, & RJJ ignored him like he didnt exist. Steve was a fine fighter & a loveable guy but ultimately a nearly man & should be grateful RJJ didnt take him up on his offer, cos RJJ would have beaten him handily, just like he did to everyone else at the time.
I understand Collins. It's not really anything to be grateful for, RJJ ignoring him. Collins wanted to fight the best, and get the big payday. Like any good fighter he would have gone in believing he had a shot at winning, I think he earned the right.
Seeing as RJJ was fighting the likes of Bryant Brannan and Eric Lucas around that time, I think Collins has a point.
