How is it outdated on stances? The stance he recommends fighters to use is the same stance Tunney used and the stance that Marquez uses today.
Marquez probably does have the best all around stance in boxing.
If anything, fighters, especially heavyweight fighters should use Dempsey's bobbing and weaving stance, and perhaps they would have a chance to beat guys like Wlad and Vitali.
The only guy I've seen utilize a stance similiar to Dempsey was Chisora, and he's had the best success against Vitali in damn near a decade.
I'm not sure why anybody disagrees with the shot execution unless they are arguing about how his hand is positioned when he throws the straight shots, but in so far as the footwork involved, I completely disagree.
Some of the best fighters in boxing today throw shots from the outside using Dempsey's footwork.
In so far as throwing shots with your hands veriticle, I haven't really tested it. I don't know how effective it is.
