Because he didn't? Although he maybe he sort of did as he was a LHW too. But yes in the modern era he may bulk up if he didn't stay at LHW. He may learn to keep his guard up and jab but he didn't do any of those things so it's going into a parellel universe or making allot of our time machine
That's why it's difficult to compare fighters from other eras you have to allow for allot of factors

He might not look as dynamic but the weight helped him, as did Holyfield's weight, as did Patterson's weight, as did Jack Johnson's bulked up weight

He doesn't really have a lead right though, not from range where it's useful and facing a southpaw is about understanding the angles where everything is in reverse.
A jab is still a great tool against a southpaw if you know how to use the angles
