Taylor fights good fighters, but smaller fighters. Taylor has never really faced a hard punching middlweight. Aside from Hopkins , but neither threw or landed many punches in either fight. I do reacall Hopkins having Taylor in trouble in the end of the first fight, when he finally started throwing punches.
You've smoked out exactly the reason why Taylor may be hedging his bets about facing Pavlik - he, or his people, know exactly what's gonna happen when he faces a legitimate MW who can crack.
