The weight issue breaks down like this for me: it's much harder to beat a great fighter who is naturally bigger than than it is to beat a great fighter who is the same size. The harder it is to beat the men you beat, the better you are. The more you do the greater you become. So yeah, beating MW's when you are a middleweight is less impressive than beating a light-heavyweight when you are a middleweight. And the rankings are going to reflect that.
