They did it because it's what needs to be done. Fedor is going to have to get paid a more realistic figure. This is why the UFC is alive and well... and Zuffa is buying out orgs like Pride and Strikeforce, and the others fall apart. Unlike the others, Zuffa obviously knows what the hell they are doing. The other orgs have contracts with Showtime, and are even on CBS yet still can't keep their heads above water. There is obviously something wrong with the way they are doing business, and there is obviously something right with the way that Zuffa does it. Fedor will still get paid plenty.... but after losing back to back fights, Werdum is one thing being "caught" in a submission... but then to turn around and be absolutely dominated as he was against Silva. Let alone the fact that he went life and death with a raw fighter like Rogers before that. He simply isn't worth the same money that he was getting before.
