If HBO isn't on board they can go PPV - they both have big enough fan babes and this is one of the most important fights in European boxing history (if not the biggest). The could fill up a stadium of 50K+ and probably do 500K PPV buys so why can't they just handle it themselves?
Fights in Europe dont generate BIG money, they have huge fan turnouts, but not big money turnouts. My guess is they are looking to HBO for a vast portion of each fighters payday. Problem is HBO itself doesnt pay much for ANY fight, the monies come from the Venues and sponsers, in all honesty HBO only puts up modest amounts to broadcast fights. Im not sure that the two groups promoting this thing truely understand that, because of the limited dealings.
