I'll like to rescind everything I said in this thread and say "Hughes has no chance." Kudos to Iron Duke who predicted spot on. GSP made Hughes look like a rank amateur.

Thank you Boinko.

Just to recap:
Like I said, GSP not only outstruck Hughes on their feet but he took Hughes down at will and held him down thoroughly outwrestling him. (Hughes' forte)
GSP even performed better than I thought he would, submitting Hughes using BJJ, something I thought Hughes might have the edge with. But nope.

He was dominated in the striking, the wrestling and the submission game.
If Hughes did have a 'chance' I fail to see what it was.

Anyone that thinks Hughes is going to get St. Pierre on his back, forget about then keeping him there to GnP him, is kidding themselves. St. Pierre made a mistake, an AMATEUR mistake at that, in the first fight and Hughes did a very basic basic basic move to beat him. You learn that in 1st grade of BJJ, if someone over commits on a kimura.....you armbar them. It is by no means an indication that Hughes has any shot of doing it again to GSP. but everything GSP did in the rematch, he can and will do again....outstrike him, take him down, stuff his takedowns, pass his guard, and knock him out GSP is more skilled, more athletic, stronger, quicker, and more hungry.....he's going to destroy him. Simple as that
Sometimes a simple "I told you so" doesn't quite say it

Whatever dude. He won the first fight, and that proves he had a chance.

Matt Serra said it perfectly about his fight before GSP. "You don't have to be the better striker to outstrike someone in MMA." He might as well have said fight instead of strike. No one is completely immune to getting caught in a quick submission, and also, we now know that GSP can be hurt if he gets caught.

Obviously Matt wasnt the favorite and obviously he got dominated, but he had a chance.
