Don't cry in the ring. It's embarassing.

During the ref's instructions, tell him he's got a real pretty mouth and ask him if he's ever made love to a man.

Generally in novice fights like this, the guy with the straighter punchers and simplistic footwork wins. Just keep yourself planted, work off the distance you're best at and throw straight simple combinations.

Keep your guard tight, and have your chin tucked in low. Watch for weaknesses and LISTEN to your corner! A great fighter is a great listener.

Go to the body, throw powerful hooks to the kidney and stomach. If he comes in moving his head, try and catch him with a solid uppercut. Move around the ring and use your space and footwork to your advantage.

When you're moving about, jab him as he turns to meet you. Make him come after you and catch him as he comes in.

But also, move your head and keep your guard up while doing this. Fire off sharp and accurate straight right hands to his nose and eyes - not the mouth. If you hit him in the eye you'll blind him, and in the nose will definitely hurt him.

Try to be offensive as well as defensive - be on your toes at all times and stay extremely alert, so you can slip, bob & weave under his punches. Catch him cleanly in the jaw. Try to offset your jab, pace yourself, and set the rhythm.

Good luck! Listen to my advice and whatever your corner tells you to do and you'll be just fine. Please update us afterwards.

No amount of advice anyone has given you will likely come into play.

You are almost 100% guaranteed to bumble around like a dope. Everyone does it. Learn from it and have fun.

Haha, so true. I forgot everything I ever learned. I floored the guy with a left cross (I'm southpaw) sometime in the third and got decked myself by a right cross (I slipped his jab into his cross, haha) late in the round, and it was ruled a draw.
My trainer told me if I hadn't went down I would have won.
The other guy was 28, a veteran kick boxer and city champion who was doing regular boxing for the first time in a fight.

Anyway I'm fine with the result because I know had I performed anywhere near my true capacities I would have won.

Thanks for the support

Forwards & backwards is equal and a faster forwards & backwards is equal.
