i heard that term that referred to english fighters jon thaxton and junior witter for their ability to fight both orthodox and swithed.

who where the ten greatest fighters that could effectively and regularly switch their stances.

some names that where known to regularly switch for long periods of time during fights.

marvin hagler
julio diaz
wilfredo rivera

I think Tyson qualifies.

In his prime he often threw the left hook/cross from a southpaw stance, and the right hook from southpaw. He threw "hooks" from the far side anyway, and his feet were often crossing over. This was a technically a flaw in his footwork, but really an advantage in his attack. When he was off-balance he was also exploding in from deadly angles. And when he missed with a big winging hook, his flexible feet got him straight again.
(A guy with less power and speed would probably be exposed with footwork like that.)

It was only when Tyson jabbed that he remained in a clearly orthodox stance. Otherwise he was always switching. Not much good at pure infighting, but perfect for his explosive style of punching.

I think Hamed should get a mention here too.

Yes, Tyson is unique among the big bangers by reason of that demon speed and suppleness; he acted in split seconds, always with murderous intent. Beautiful, economical body dynamics.
