Default Why did they use to hold big fights

during the week? I remember watching on closed circuit Hagler vs Hearns,Mugabi & Leonard on a school night. I'm pretty sure Ali-Fraizer 1 was held on a Monday

They certainly were. The second Ali-Frazier was on a Monday night too. Boxing was far bigger then. I think that would be the reason.
