Re: (P4P) Greater Fighter- Miguel Lora or Israel Vazquez ?????
Lora was rusty as hell and dried out at bantam by then anarci.Neither him nor Gaby were near their best by then, though it made for an unpredictable mini-classic.
Lora was having trouble making the weight by his rematch with Davila where he was carried back to his corner at one point and looked tired despite being always well in control. his decision to hang around at Bantam after losing his title was a stupid move that ruined his career.I believe he had said he was moving up once he beat Perez, not sure why he changed his mind after the outcome of that fight.
And of course Marquez was a legit fighter, so was Austin. They both just got a bit of over the top hype behind them is all imo.Probably due to the lack of depth in recent years as much as anything.
As far as Zaragoza imo he was at his best in the 80s.him having greater success later in his career was as much due to him not fighting the likes of Fenech and Lora as it was anything else, though no doubt he was one of the better veterans in the sport at one point. His form dropped away pretty badly by the mid-90s, where he was more of a straight punching accurate fighter earlier on.
